Copy vs Creation

by | Jun 25, 2025

As creatives, we spend a large proportion of our lives trying to find something new to bring to the workbench.

Go.botanica have always made a conscious effort to lead the way and not to follow. When we are inspired by other brilliant businesses we discuss, we design and we weave that grain of inspiration into a go.botanica shape that reflects our brand and ethos.

Sure, its irritating when someone blatantly ‘kidnaps’ a concept that you have spent hours working on but in this AI world of make believe I still like to think that the clientele that we attract will recognise and respect our independent brand and the quality of work that it represents.

Lazy floristry is not our jam, and copy cat behaviour lacks creativity, however I choose to take it as a compliment that go.botanica is influencing others around us.

Twenty five years ago I clung to every move made by the florists that I admired and tried to model myself on. Twenty five years later I still absolutely revere those same influential businesses but I can see that go.botanica chose it’s own path. A path which now inspires and influences other start up businesses.
I recently interviewed someone who had been to floristry school and proudly told me that she wrote her dissertation on go.botanica!
There were mixed emotions upon this revelation; pride, joy and bloody hell I feel old!

Plagiarism sounds like the Latin for ‘common flower’. We strive to be the unique wild flower popping up in a field of common flowers.
A business that is built on passion and graft, shines through it’s pretenders.
